Hi all -- it's really been lovely, weather-wise, here in Anchorage over the last few days. In the mornings frost will still make an appearance on my car windshield but by mid to late afternoon we're in the high 40's! I thought that was pretty good until I talked with my sister today, who says the San Jose, CA area is in the 70's.
It is still much too early to think about planting anything outside, but hopefully by the first week or May I can at least get the deck furniture out. They are stored in the shed and under the deck but will probably need a good cleaning and another coat of stain. A friend of mine says his neighbors have already raked the parts of their yard that are not still covered with snow (it's melting fast!). I don't even want to think about raking yet.
My friend Susie had a BIG (9 lbs, 3 oz) baby boy on Wednesday. He is such a chubster and quite adorable. And last night we threw a baby shower for a work friend and it was quite possibly the most fun I've ever had at a baby shower EVER. Love my friends from work! They were all quite complimentary of my diaper cake too.
I've been in spring clean-up mode at the house and ready to start some new projects. On my list is a big project for me: new nightstand tables. Currently D and I have a pair of mismatched night stands that don't match our other pieces in the master bedroom. Craigslist wasn't coming up with anything I liked and I can't bring myself to buy 2 new nightstands at $80-150 a piece. Have you seen the prices on furniture out there? Even the junk is expensive! So, I browsed Ana's site and came upon the Farmhouse bedside tables. I'm really excited to tackle this project with a bit of supervision from my in-house master carpenter. I wish I had a lighter-weight drill (the Dewalt compact impact driver is on my wish list!) because Darin's drill is just too heavy for long projects.
