Video: Happy dance - 2 years, 1.5 months

Everyday Boyd asks to go outside to check the mail and clear the driveway. He will even go into the yard and bring snow over to parts of the driveway that are bare! We've tried telling him that's not the way it works but he doesn't seem to care. :-)

Video: Shoveling & sledding - 24 months

We have a couple of snow shovels to use at the house and the biggest one is best for scooping large amounts of snow at once, like on the driveway or back deck. Boyd's idea of helping is to ride in the scoop and then get dumped into the snow bank.

Here's a sweet little video of Boyd reading the informational sticker on our dryer. It's a lot of "ooh ooh, ee ah ooh" but so very cute!

Video: Spoon feeding - 23 months

When eating off of a spoon, Boyd tends to lick just a tiny bit and then will finally take a big bite. I've seen him do it with oatmeal, yogurt, and basically anything that will just sit on his spoon.

Video: Sliding in winter - 22.5 months

Back when we still had snow (before this current heat wave and melt-off) Boyd would toddle around the yard and play on his plastic slide. I had to clear the snow off of it and you'll see him imitating me in the video.

Like any toddler, Boyd loves seeing himself in photos and on video. He especially enjoys when I turn around the camera on the my iPhone and he can watch himself as we record.

Video: Trick or Treat Street 2013 - 20.5 months

Strolling down 4th Avenue on a sunny Saturday afternoon for Trick or Treat Street...look at his fox tail wag back and forth. Adorbs!

It was just a coincidence that I picked a fox costume for Boyd, but it's timely in a pop culture sort of way if you're familiar with this song & video that has been all over the internets:

Video: Bears at the Zoo - 15.25 months

A few weeks ago I met up with Risha, Jillian, and some friends of theirs for a morning at the Alaska Zoo. I finally broke down and purchased a 1-person season pass since Boyd seems to love this place. We mention the word "zoo" and he breaks out in a big grin.

Video: Museum stroll - 15.5 months

Boyd and I visited the Anchorage Museum during another one of the monthly free days. We arrived right after the facility opened and scored a great parking space, plus there were practically no people there! Love it when things work out like that. It's difficult enough to get a high-energy toddler in and out of places, so I really appreciate when the forces of the universe work together to cut me a break!

Boyd was pretty happy to walk around and explore, as usual. To keep his hands busy I let him carry around my wallet, as you can see...

Video: Laughing in the car - 14.25 months

I can't get enough of Boyd's laugh - his giggling is infectious! We were going to Costco the other day and I could hear him just having a great time while sitting in traffic. At the stop light I whipped out my phone to video him. (You can see the car moving, but don't worry, I just held the phone up behind me and edited the footage later.)

Video: Whirling dervish - 14 months

This kid is a bundle of energy - almost always moving and getting into things. As is evidenced by this video, he is part Godzilla, part cheetah.

Boyd gives us the biggest grins when he gets a hold of what we call "contraband" - things he isn't really supposed to have. Like a jar of Vaseline...

In the news

Boyd, Risha, the little girl Risha nannys and I attended a free music class demonstration on Monday. Channel 2 News was also there to film a story about the class and we all ended up getting some brief screen time.

Boyd LOVED this class! I think he was fascinated by the sounds, plus he also wanted to move around and look at the other kids.We had a great time so I signed us both up for the Monday sessions. Risha's employer signed up his youngest so she and Risha will be in the class as well. They're not cheap - $165 for 8 sessions - but I had a free $25 credit so that took each class down to $17.50 each. $15.50 if you factor in the demo.

I think we'll have fun - I'm just hoping Boyd's nap schedule cooperates!

Video: Tissue shredder - 11 months

One of Boyd's latest favorite activities is to pull as many tissues out of box as he can and then slowly shred the paper into little strips. Sometimes the pieces make it into his mouth if we aren't diligent enough.

My mom's birthday was earlier this month so D, Boyd and I took her out to a really nice Asian buffet here in town. The restaurant features crab at dinner time so my mom loaded up and even shared with Boyd, who apparently loves shellfish too.

Why can't they make baby socks that actually stay on feet? I've started putting shoes on Boyd when we go out because those darn socks always fall off. Now he likes pulling off his socks AND shoes. These shoes were a gift from my boss - very cute!
